The tunings DADA or DADG work well for mandocellos. Take inspiration from Alec Finns DAD bouzouki playing.
Its really not as bad of a fit as people are making it out to be in this thread.

Thanks. I'll try those tunings. There aren't any sessions close by and the people I get to play with me know less than I do about Irish music so I don't think I'm going to offend anyone no matter what I do.

Sean Tyrrell's mandocello is strung with single strings (it's a 4-string instrument).
