FS: Two string instruments on eBay

Post by brewerpaul »

I just posted two odd instruments on eBay and thought that someone here might be curious.
First is an old harp guitar. This is in TERRIBLE condition and will be a major luthier project:

The other is a vintage plastic soprano uke:

If you know anyone else who might be interested, please pass these along. PM if you'd like further info. Thanks for looking

Hi Paul. I'm not sure the harp guitar is the worst I've ever seen. Most of them I've seen are pretty well in ruins before the luthier gets to them. They're kind of a self-destruct instrument by nature. All that tension you know. In fact, I'm sure I've never seen one in original condition that was playable; they've all been rebuilt. The nice thing is that yours looks like it has all the major components so it could be reconstructed accurately. Some I've seen are guesswork reconstructions to some degree or required a ton of research to make the replica parts.

Well that's encouraging. I have a couple of bids already, so maybe I'll get lucky.

Good luck with it. I don't think you're asking an unfair price, I've seen more ambitious sellers.

FYI-- the Uke went to a buyer in France for $25. Considering that I got it for $2 at a yard sale, I was happy with that. The shipping cost more than the Uke by a bit, but the buyer is a collector and was OK with that.

The harp guitar ended up bringing in $454! I was pretty flabbergasted. I asked the buyer if he could send me photos and maybe sound clips of the finished restoration and he agreed to do so. I'll post them here if I get anything.
