There is no mp3 thread, so I thought I'd share these in the youtube thread. Here are a couple of recordings of the new trio I'm in playing some songs. We're called "Dorian's Wheel" and consist of fiddle, harp, and bodhran, with some guitar and vocals thrown in on occasion.

Note: mp3's were recorded quickly at a rehearsal with no real processing (and no thought about where to place the microphone), so mea culpa on the quality. These are short 30 second clips (there are a couple of others on the website):

Just played our first gig and are booked for two more in the next few weeks! On a side note, we are fairly "string-tastic" as we had 42 total strings to tune at our first performance (outside in the 97 degree heat). Four on the fiddle, six on the guitar, and 32 on the harp.

My band Dorian's Wheel did a quick little cover of "Falling Slowly" from the film and musical Once. It features harp, fiddle, bouzouki (is that string-y enough for ya?) as well as bodhran and vocals. The video is not particularly shot well, it was just a quickie done for entrance into a cover song contest.

Gladly. Yours is certainly the most original arrangement.
Musically, I think your only competition is 53, though I've
probably not seen all of them. You're better than the ones
with >200 likes. Sadly, these things often come down to
those with the most Facebook friends.

I do wish I could hear your vocals better, the harmony is
really nice. I usually put a backup recorder (like a Zoom
or even a laptop) on the opposite side of the group from
the camera then mix the audio with that of the camera
mic and put that back in the video. Free software can
do all of that.

Thanks! Yeah, it's not the best quality video or sound. I'm frankly a little disappointed that the contest came down to a popularity thing because even though ours doesn't have the best sound or video quality, it was at least a more original attempt at the song

I appreciate you taking a look and voting! I will be sending it on to my friend who is in the cast regardless, even if we don't make it to the final round.

Maybe you should have used your instruments to row a
canoe instead of playing them. That seems to be popular.

I'm so disappointed. I thought a Tubaphone was like a bananaphone, but bigger. And less yellow.
