I found this article, "7 Other Movies That Should Be Board Games."
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/1 ... 19136.html

I didn't bother reading the article but I did look at their choices and added some of my own to the poll. I hope the folks from other counties comment about their favorite board games.

You may revote and choose up to 5 options.

My vote went to other since there was no choice for "none of the above". I just don't think board games make good movies.

Kokopelli, check your irony() function. I think it's not working.

Note the product placement in the original article. Which of these "H*sb*r*" games... :moreevil:

Anyway, you missed the obvious "Rock Paper Scissors" and its sequel "Rock Paper Scissors Lizard Spock".

"Chess" has been a Theatre phenomenon for a wee while. Maybe someone made it into a film and I missed it. What a shame (check that irony() function)! I'm willing to bet that some Iranian or Turkish film-maker has already made at least one film about Backgammon. That's one of my favourite games.

If the Americans were going to make a film about Tic-Tac-Toe - wouldn't THAT be fascinating? - they might have to retitle it for the UK market as "Noughts-and-Crosses" and for the Scottish & Irish market as "Exey-osey".

I'm from County Down, by the way. Just for the record.

Didn't even need to look as far afield as Turkey...

Wait, isn't "Battleship" already a movie?

Materpiece is a game where major works of art and 2 forgeries get bought and sold and increase in value or become forgeries. We play this game a lot with company because a person doesn't need to know the rules to play and enjoy the game. The high drama is all about the personailities and specific works of art. My family has made of tradition of bidding at least $1Million on American Gothic knowing that there is a mighty slim chance it could achieve that value.

Watch the drama when someone has a chance to buy your $2Million artwork for $350,000.

There was "Chess" the musical that was a wildly famous hit. I'm waiting for the definitive movie about Go, filmed in black and white of course.

We played this growing up. We always went for the Picasso and other most abstract ones. It was a good time once, watching the hyperactive kid from across the street (who would later become my brother-in-law) get uber-excited about acquiring a $1M painting for $1.3M. Luckily, his business sense (upon which some of my financial stability rests) has improved a little.

How about Twister? Wait...that was already the name of a movie which in no way evoked the game.

I also voted for LIFE, because I'm picturing the actors tootling around in little topless motor-buggies, the rear filled with uni-sized children wearing either blue or pink beanies.

How about Go?

I see a black and white film noir by Kurosawa.

I don't seem to have one of those irony things. Are they ferrous?

I haven't voted yet, but I'm thinking Operation. Kinda like when the flying monkeys take apart the Scarecrow.
