My Mom and brother will be visiting for a week and should be arriving in less than 2 hours. I finally put up the shower curtain that Mom brought us two visits ago and that wasn't up last visit. Only after I have a few of the curtain rods thingies hooked in do I see that it is a cabbage rose pattern shower curtain. Where does my Mom find these things?

Her whole life, my Mom has bought cabbage rose pattern textiles. Curtains, bedspreads, furniture, throw pillows, napkins. She had 5 boys, 0 girls. Who did she think she was decorating for? When I moved out of the house, I got her old curtains (cabbage rose) so that she could buy more curtains (cabbage rose). The shower curtain is a first. The real bummer is that this is the outer curtain, the inner vinyl liner is plain, so this outer curtain will stay scum free forever.

There is no sense telling her. She'll say oh, I thought it was pretty. Never mind it doesn't even match the bathroom that is done in shocking shades of aqua and green and sea foam. All of us boys have told her cabbage roses don't do it for us. This falls on deaf ears. The ears are actually deaf. How many men do you know even knows what a cabbage rose is?

Back to getting ready. I'm making chicken wings (the best) and jasmine rice. My Mom thinks we're exotic that we don't use Uncle Ben's.

Sorry Mom-- they don't do it for me either.

I do, but I know most of the obnoxious noxious weeds found the world over. I heard it said that in Pennsylvania there is Philly in the east, Pittsburgh in the west and Alabama in between. Cabbage rose designs are very popular in the south.

Of course we know what cabbage roses are. They are those big roses in those florid furnishing designs that women of a certain age love so dearly.
To be fair, after a year or so of beer stains, bolognaise sauce stains, cat puke and similar, you can't tell what the pattern is.
Youse boys aren't really trying. :poke:

I love your rice, it reminds me of certain insect larvae I used to raise although not nearly as tasty.

So close. My Mom would have passed by anything with lace edging. Not durable enough. But I have seen that print.

It would get tatty.

And soon this thread will be on the shuttle to punsville.
