Hey there Denny,
What's the connection between this meteorite and Sutters Mill ? Was it found at the site of the original mill or something ?
Cheers from OZ ...

That's right, weedie. The trajectory of the fireball passed over the Sacramento, California area. And these fragments were apparently found in the county park adjacent to the Sutter's Mill site, which is around an hour's drive to the east of Sacramento.

There's more info if you clicky the APOD piccy.

We heard nothing down here in San Diego, 500 miles away. But between Miramar air base (remember "Top Gun"?) and the live fire exercises at Camp Pendleton, we sometimes tend to ignore loud booms anyway.

Let me ask you, who is going to find a meteorite that weighs only 4 grams when they are casually walking through a parking lot?
