Mayday!
Anyone have a good cat de-whining method?
And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')

Nope. Keep 'em happy, less whining usually. Unless it's due to pain or illness.

Make all the snow melt. That will be the only cure around here.

Ditto, senility often comes with whining but I am assuming this is a younger animal.kkrell wrote:Nope. Keep 'em happy, less whining usually. Unless it's due to pain or illness.

Lucky Isabella Danger is willing to forgo pets from boys for a while to initiate some cats into her running program. That'll stop the whining for awhile or at least include a Doppler Effect.

Re: Mayday!
We have a cat who whines/howls/yelps. It's always attributable to the impending ejection of a hairball (like Kevin's post) or to the presence of a pipe cleaner, in which case she's begging for someone to play fetch with. Actually, she really doesn't fetch any more, it's more "throw the pipe cleaner, I'll run after it and bat it once or twice, then whine till you come over here and pick it up and throw it again."

Re: Mayday!
He's definitely a senior cat, but I don't think senility has begun. What's frustrating is that I have no idea what he wants - he can have fresh everything and still go on demanding. If I ignore him, he'll go scratch the furniture right outside my office door.dwest wrote:Ditto, senility often comes with whining but I am assuming this is a younger animal.kkrell wrote:Nope. Laser pointer is his sport, rather than tag, but this isn't what he does when he wants that.

Have you tried bathing him? I think you'll find that might solve the problem.

Yup, it's good until they can lick themselves dry. Possibly a bit more if they need a nap after.
