One of my favorites is a quote from Braveheart:

Every man dies. Not every man really lives.

Tell us something.: Been a fluter, citternist, and uilleann piper; committed now to the way of the harp.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

The quote from Braveheart reminded me of this one:

Better to die standing upright than to live on your knees.

Braveheart..... Mmmmm.....,
Beloved by Scottish Nationalists ( bit of an oxymoron that!),
Adored by American tourists, who flocked in their thousands to see the spectacular scenery, the rolling glens, the plunging valleys, the impossibly beautiful lakes, the rugged untamed countryside...
Filmed in Ireland.

Tell us something.: I play whistles. I sell whistles. This seems just a BIT excessive to the cause. A sentence or two is WAY less than 100 characters.

hold your horses, english is my first language!

the majority, well, almost, of the scots are nationalistic, so therefore applying the term oxymoron would be a mistake, no?

Now let us sort this little matter out.
Living south of the border, I come into contact with Scottish people every day. A fine crew of whom I would not hear a word said against. They tend to be very big on the FREEEEEEDOMMM bit,and always ready to break into a rousing chorus of "Flower of Scotland".
However, should any poor Irishman,or Welshman for that matter, say anything less than respectful about the Queen the aforesaidmentioned Scottish people are the first to spring to her defence. I have never yet met a Scot who was less than adoring of the British monarchy.
To me,this does not sound like nationalism. What ,apart from giving Sean Connery a tax deductable place to off load his charity money, does the SNP do?
Amar, you are Scottish or British. One or the other,
You cannot have your haggis and eat it.
Hence,oxymoron.

Slan,
D.
And many a poor man that has roved,
Loved and thought himself beloved,
From a glad kindness cannot take his eyes.
