I can do the cupped hands whistle, but never figured out how you move your hands to make different notes.

I also like the blade of grass one but usually spend more time looking for the right blade of grass than I do whistling.

You can also make a high-pitched, obnoxious sound by blowing directly onto the end of a fingernail.

I've managed that once, and scared myself so badly I managed to kick the table and spill coffee all over it

I have a bad habit of always whistling along any whistle (in extreme cases also fiddle) part of the music when I'm at a concert. Thank god it's normally loud enough there so that the others won't hear me, but I did catch the singer of a certain band do the same on Saturday.

"You know how to whistle, don't you? Just pucker up and blow."

One of the best movie lines, ever.

the dust of everyday life.

I have never been able to whistle. I've had numerous people try to teach me, and it just doesn't work. My daughter, on the other hand, has been able to whistle tunefully since she was about five or so (but she can't play the whistle!). Go figure!

I can whistle a lot of tunes right off once I have listened to them a few times. But when I take my whistle to play the same tune I can not get it right. Does anyone else have this problem?
