There are 44 replies to this thread. I can't help thinking there would have
been considerably fewer if the subject had been 'Which TV characters
should NOT be bounced off a wall?'
As satellite and cable TV become more common it seems the more
channels I have access to the fewer I actually want to watch ...

Boy, and ain't THAT the truth. 300 channels and during the day there's usually not a single damn thing worth watching.Colin wrote: As satellite and cable TV become more common it seems the more channels I have access to the fewer I actually want to watch ...

I like West Wing and the Law and Order franchise, and I have to admit a certain guilty enjoyment of American Idol. Other than that, thank whatever fates might be listening for the History Channel and OLN in July (The Tour de France).
And I refuse toi watch either Crossing Jordan or any of the CSI franchise. Twenty years in Law Enforcement - if any of that crap ever happened in real life there'd never be a conviction again.

I know that. And trust me, I do.emmline wrote:Sam...tvs can be turned off.TelegramSam wrote:Pretty much the entire prime time lineup. They all suck. I abhor "reality" shows (an oxymoron if I ever heard one); there hasn't been a really good sitcom since The Nanny ended and now that Frasier is over, there really aren't any. Oh and I hate those design shows too...

Chuck, you mean crimes labs don't spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on each murder like on those shows??? I am SHOOOOOCKED!Chuck_Clark wrote: And I refuse toi watch either Crossing Jordan or any of the CSI franchise. I just know every PD in America has a big ol' lab like CSI Vegas. On the average, let's see, about 8 investigators work each case until its solved, dammit! I liked the one where the guy investigated every tire made until he found the exact match for the pattern left. Or figured out the make of a car, from a piece of glass about 1/4 inch square. Happens everday, right?
How do you prepare for the end of the world?

Don't get me wrong, forensics labs can do some really amazing stuff, except:The Weekenders wrote:Happens everday, right?
1) Sometimes it takes weeks or years, not 50 minutes;
2) They do it without contaminating every crime scene they touch;
3) They do it without bastardizing every chain of custody;
4) Of all the CSTs and ME's I've known, NOT ONE OF THEM independently investigated cases and personally collared the perps; and,
5) While some CSTs are really nice folks, I can't recall a single one that ever looked like a Hollywood actor or actress.
Oher than that, the damn things are absolutely realistic.

HA! Yeah, 50 minutes is pretty quick. They have a show, Cold Case, for the hard ones.Chuck_Clark wrote: Don't get me wrong, forensics labs can do some really amazing stuff, except:

And hey, just because they walk through pools of gore at crime scenes, they ARE wearing Latex gloves afterall !
And yes, its very important to throw off the lab coat and catch the bad guy at the Intl Airport!!!
Thanks for laughs, Chuck!

Drank real coffee by accident yesterday so I was up late, channel surfin.
Dr. Gene Scott is back on the air! I hadn't seen that guy in at least 10 years. The grease board was more crowded than ever, he has tons of age spots but he looks even more like Andrew Jackson now. He was going on and on about the Greek word for Amen etc etc.
The prince of American Scots-Irish preacher tradition. Same 800 number too! No tobacco though. I love that guy, in small, infrequent doses.
