Yes, it's the jet pilot uniform that does it. I'm not sure if it's called "irony" or "sarcasm", something like that.

You ever do Reagan? Gosh I love to hate that old coot. I think most people remember who he was still, too.
My opinion is stupid and wrong.

Saw a reproduction of that doctored Kerry/Jane Fonda photo in the Guardian newspaper today.

I'm now convinced that Kerry is an avatar of Michael Schumacher.

But Dale will have to make that a halo on Regan to appease the madding crowd. Remember that speaking ill of Regan borders on sacreligeous.

I've already had emails from 2 people who thought that the Bush icon was a tribute to Bush. I hate it when people don't pick up on perfectly good irony.

I was riding in a limo once (in a wedding party) and there was a small TV. I said to the driver, "So, does this get cable?" and he rolls his eyes and says, "Well, sir, that would take an awfully long cable to drag around now wouldn't it?" I couldn't really find a snappy enough comeback, so I just said, "So, how do you like being a limo driver and, you know, driving people around?" I'm not proud of that. If I could find that man somehow, I would make amends. I would give him a check for $1,000,000 and tell him that I was one of the many filthy rich people he has driven around in his career and I wanted to do this for him, as a symbol of the need for rich people to be more helpful to the underclass. Then, of course, the check would bounce. I would not be proud of that, and if I could find that man again, I would somehow make amends....

$1,000,000 check would help. Failing that, you could invade Sudan!

You remind me of a line in Steve Martin's movie "Roxanne"--"Oh, irony! ... I gave it up because I was tired of being stared at."

Been there--hard to be ironic, growing up in Alabama in the '60s. Resisted temptation to explain myself. Still do.

I don't get it. Wouldn't it take an extremely long
cable? And it would get run over, foul up traffic,
heaven knows what else!

Wasn't it a tribute to Bush?

(Angling for the check, don't you know?)

Ah, where would we be without irony? I practice it every time I refer to myself as a musician...
And whether the blood be highland, lowland or no.
And whether the skin be black or white as the snow.
Of kith and of kin we are one, be it right, be it wrong.
As long as our hearts beat true to the lilt of a song.

I've got a friend who has no sense of irony or sarcasm whatsoever. She's quite bright, and very sweet, but has a tendency to take *everything* literally.

More than once, after saying something particularly outrageously sarcastic or ironic, she's looked at me and said "Really?", or has started arguing with me. If I didn't like her so much, I'd string her along.... :) Going to be interesting for her now though, she hired on to the ambulance company my wife works for, and is going to be my wife's driver. My wife is extremely, though subtly, sarcastic, so my poor friend is either going to have to develop a sense of irony, or she's going to be very confused...

How do you spot a whistle player in Alabama? (substitute Tennessee, Georgia, or Mississippii)
He has three whistles.
One that actually playes, and two up on blocks, beside the trailer.
My opinion is stupid and wrong.
