Has anyone checked out the recently rediscovered Soviet made-for-TV version of LotR? Here's one review:

The long-lost Lord of the Rings adaptation from Soviet Russia is a glorious fever dream

You can find it on YouTube under the title Khraniteli (no subtitles, BTW). Being a fan of the Trilogy and course curious, I had a look, and found it vapid and unwatchable. YMMV.
