Without ever being a fan, I was mildly startled to realize how many of their songs I had in memory, and could sing - at least the hook and the chorus - effortlessly. Just from listening to commercial radio. Which I gave up in the early 90s*. God, I wish I'd been able to choose to use those synapses for something productive.
*When North American commercial radio played nothing but Hotel California, leavened with random intervening trax, many of which were Steely Dan
