Le Tourbillon de la Vie

Post by Mr.Gumby »

In 1979 I bought the latest De Dannan record (their second), when 'Kathleen Hehir's' started the (then) woman of the house jumped and said 'that's from Jules et Jim'. I hadn't seen Truffaut's film at that point so the reference alluded me.

Years later I finally got to see the lovely Jeanne Moreau sing Le Tourbillion de la Vie in that film. I was smitten and had to agree that Charlie Piggot, who composed and put together several of the parts of 'Kathleen Hehir's' must have been a regular at his local film club.

Jeanne Moreau died today, she was found dead in her apartment this morning, she was 89. Rest well.

How long ago did I watch Jules et Jim!? And more than once...

Can't even see the clip without wanting the lyrics.
