Server/database problems?
Things are a bit sketchy at the moment. Gateway time outs, (general) server errors, the lot.

Yeah, I was getting some of that lately, myself. Will see if we can't get to the bottom of it.

Re: Server/database problems?
It's ok again now. But for a while when it more or less worked I could get the index page but getting threads and posts, let alone posting or editing, was not possible. For a while nothing would work.

That's way worse than I had. I agree it's better today, but it's still too balky for my liking. I thought maybe it was just issues on my end until you spoke up.

It's been all week for me, but unlike Mr.Gumby at least I could get in.

Re: Server/database problems?
It was better when I made the previous post, around the time I posted the thread and for about a hour after it was actually the worst it has been for a long time, to the point of not working at all for about 30 minutes.I agree it's better today

Thanks, very useful.
Anyone else? I'd like the input while we try to correct this.

Re: Server/database problems?
Experienced the same thing yesterday; pages took forever to load or would not load at all. Seems better this morning so far.Nanohedron wrote:Anyone else? I'd like the input while we try to correct this.

Re: Server/database problems?
Are there any server limitations the forum is running up against (bandwidth, CPU usage, etc.)? Or other applications on the server taking extensive CPU/memory? I don't know where/how this forum is hosted. It's also tough to diagnose server issues without access to the server.

Unless you're volunteering your services, the first thing we'll probably try is to have Dale get in consultation with the server, Dreamhost. Chiffboard was recently updated to the latest form of phpBB, which among other things was supposed to remedy the slow loads and timeouts.dyersituations wrote:Are there any server limitations the forum is running up against (bandwidth, CPU usage, etc.)? It's better now, but I'm still getting the occasional slow load, and this post is one of 'em. Even had a timeout during submission. Frustrating, considering what one would expect from an upgrade, and with things clipping along so nicely before this.

Re: Server/database problems?
It just went a bit dodgy on me as well a few minutes ago (a few very slow loads and one gateway time out). Seems to happen when I am posting or editing posts.

I'll add my name to the list. Problems logging in yesterday and had a PM go completely astray.

Re: Server/database problems?
Getting in touch with the Dreamhost is definitely the best option. They should be able to answer questions about server load and memory usage and whatnot. I'm happy to help if needed, but Dreamhost should be able to give an idea of what's going on. A lot of it depends on what kind of hosting the forum uses.Nanohedron wrote:Unless you're volunteering your services, the first thing we'll probably try is to have Dale get in consultation with the server, Dreamhost.
