Question:
I have been exploring the locus of "self" for quite a while now.
I see that any "self" must push-back entropy to keep some store to overcome the chaotic challenges we face.
What I find is that all "selves" maintain a membrane that regulates inflow and outflow be it a human or an insect or a bacterium or a nation.
we play music.
What is the music factor?
I mean: what does music regulate?
What goes out?
And what comes in?
I ask this of whistlers, because, in my experience, whistlers are closer than any other community.
I would postulate that it is not opposable thumbs or bigger brains.
Humans are the only species who can control a whistle.
What is it that we are doing?

Y'know, Mitch I hesitate to venture here. . .however. . .
I once had a Professor who loved to sum up his thoughts with highly polished apothegms.
He defined 'culture' as 'a continuity of awareness with constantly shifting values.' At once blindingly obvious but intellectually provocative
at the same time.
With that thought in mind, and being of the opinion that making and enjoying music is a Primary Cultural Vehicle, I think it is a way to bring ourselves into some measure of harmony.
