OK, folks, this little tune has been going through my head since before Christmas. I have a feeling it was released as an instrumental pop record at some point - my memory supplies a sort of honky tonk piano playing the tune, or maybe some other sort of keyboard or electronic device. Anyone any clues? Here it is in ABC (I can produce sheet music if you need it):

- Tell us something.: I'm a fiddler and, latterly, a fluter. I love the flute. I wish I'd always played it. I love the whistle as well. I'm blessed in having really lovely instruments for all of my musical interests.

Looks close to Red River Valley, if not quite as I know it.

That's fantastic Peter! Bang on.Peter Duggan wrote:Looks close to Red River Valley, if not quite as I know it.
Now, the thing is, I remember an upbeat, keyboard instrumental version that made the charts at some point. I've just been Googling based on the fact that it is Red River Valley - and it definitely is - but I can't find the version I remember. I like this version which I've found just now, but would love to find the one that's been going through my head this past week and a half.
Thanks, Peter, y're a star (as always).

... and Deb says to thank you from her as well, Peter. Not that I've been banging on and on about it for the whole of the past ten days or anything ...

Maybe? Or possibly a solution looking for a problem which did not exist.
Thanks for passing along the earworm, benhall.1!

I can find a bunch of links for Red River Rock by Johnny & the Hurricanes, but not Eddy.
And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')
