Muslim Iman sings sean nos
Here's a story from the Irish Time about a London-based Imam, Muhammad Al-Hussaini, who competes in Fleadh singing sean nós airs in gaelic:

And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')

You know, for such a tiny nation, Ireland has one of the world's most charismatic cultures. It has no peers among small or mid-sized nations, and can hold its own against the giants.

I wish to point out an error in the article: The gentleman is singing Casadh an tSúgáin, not Caoineadh na dTrí Muire. I will refrain from commentary on the further hot water that singing the latter would get him into, a fact which he is no doubt well aware of.

Thanks, Nano. I knew I recognized the tune and knew the title given wasn't it.

The coming land war between California, another large country, and Texas will be brutal. Fought on the fields of Arizona and New Mexico, and trampling all over the nice irrigated lawns. Then when the space aliens living in Roswell and the zombie ghosts of the Anasazi get involved, that's when things will get interesting.walrii wrote:And Texas. Oh. Right. We're a large country. [THREAD REVIVAL - MOD]
Last I checked, all the Rosewell space aliens were working as contractors in Area 51 and the Anasazi where in Hollywood making big bucks working in over half the movies being produced. Hey, I read it on the internet!
I think the war is on hold for now. When this thread started, we in Texas were thrashing about on whether to secede (again!) from the Union. That effort came to naught then the political landscape changed and it appears we shall remain for a while longer. I understand there is movement now towards California seceding - unless The Big One does it for you. I guess we'll know the Apocalypse is just around the corner when both states decide it's time to leave.MTGuru wrote:The coming land war between California, another large country, and Texas will be brutal.
