I double post this with the piping forum as there is some whistle content (and it's well worth a look-in):
The TG4 programme Ceolchuairt sends traditional musicians off to find out about other traditions. I happened to zap into TG4 over the weekend and fell into one of the series that saw Mick O Brien dispatched to Sardinia where he found himself trying to fit the pipes into the local music. Some interesting moments.

Re: Ceolchuairt : Mick O Brien
Lovely travel story TG4 programme Ceolchuairt with Mick O Brien and interesting music there in Sardinia. I lived there the year 1980 compliments USN in LaMaddelena. The small towns had lively music constantly. I do recall that particular instrument Launeddas being played, and I do remember the festivals around the island. In particular, I remember the horsemanship and the craziness being so close to the racing, quite dangerous actually. Very simple lifestyles thereabouts and stress free too. I always experienced cheerful people while there and spent plenty of weekends in Porto Cervo.

I took up my share of the Cannonau grape while there.

- Tell us something.: I play the whistle, I used to play flute but have Dupuytren's contracture so can only play whistle now which is fine. Mostly play sessions around Canterbury Kent area.
