Re: Hi everybody..
It would probably be hard to get worse. I can't even make that squawky sound any more. Have fun and welcome.

Re: Hi everybody..
Another beginner. Bought a Guinness Walton after my second trip to Dublin, this last Easter. Grabbed it at the airport (some leftover Euros in my pocket). I found it was easy enough to play simple melodies on it. I played the recorder in school, and it was always just squeak and noise. But when I tried the recorder again as an adult I found that it was now easy (adults have better breath control, and larger fingers.. so, recorders are difficult for children and easy for adults. I don't play the recorder now, I play stringed instruments mostly). Anyway, the fingering (without a thumb hole) is different for a whistle, but the ancient recorder practice probably helped a little.
I don't have much practice time for the whistle, but I'm pretty hooked already. Now I have 7 whistles.. I think. The small G was probably a mistake though, there's barely room for my fingers. I find that I play the Clarke D the most, very easy to play, mellow sound (unless I'm careful some of the others can sound a bit harsh.. I think that's a beginner issue).
Anyway, it's for fun, and I'm glad I bought that little Guinness Walton
