Dixon Trad - Your Experiences?
Re: Dixon Trad - Your Experiences?
Nothing mean intended! I was just curious if Dixon had made some deliberate changes to the Trad. That model has become such a reliable "standard" that it bears watching. It wouldn't surprise me that no two of them play exactly alike. That's part of the overall whistle allure.

Re: Dixon Trad - Your Experiences?
Just as a slight update to my previous post I was out at my local session last night when someone else borrowed my Dixon Trad for a tune. I'd never heard it played by someone else and I do have to say it sounded very sweet, and loud enough with only a couple of other instruments providing accompaniment.
Cheers

Thank you, ID. That matches my 3-year old Trad. All's well.I.D.10-t wrote:Dixon tube

Re: Dixon Trad - Your Experiences?
Well I love my Dixon Trad in High D.
A nice instrument for beginners and also for playing at
a session (specialy if there are TO many whistle players).
It is not to loud and I use it mainly for practising.
But make your own decision : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9vl840MBps

Hey there
It's very simple. I just recorded the audiotrack at first and than I played along with
it and I filmed myself.....four times. It's a little bit tricky to make it synchron but it
works

Re: Dixon Trad - Your Experiences?
I bought one the week they were announced. It's my primary practice instrument for after the kids are in bed. Drop a paper-clip into the windway and the thing is pretty quiet, while still sounding nice enough to practice on. It's a quiet instrument in my opinion (which is no bad thing really) and has a sweet tone. It's not the best whistle I have or have played, but it's pretty solid and a good whistle for the price.
