Hi, Ron (great grandchildren, wow!) and Mick! I thought to come here today because I recently got myself into a pickle over in a pregnancy forum, telling my opinions on what is or is not irresponsible during pregnancy. ;)

Yeah, the virtual fists start-a-flyin' when you bring up pregnant bungee jumping.

Nice to see you back for a bit. I miss your forthright and generally thorough reviews of whistles.

Curious to know if you've tried any of the newer whistles that are out and about--specifically the Reviol Low whistles or the OZ whistle. Anything else?

Time to start a "whistling whilst pregnant" thread? Are slow airs as effective as an epidural?

Roland and Lesley, last night I checked your updates thread and I am so sorry to hear that you are STILL going through such intense health crises, and I seriously appreciate thatyou took the time and energy to send me a note in my little hello thread. Love to both of you!

No, Keith, I haven't tried any of the newer whistles. I've been out of the market for quite a while.

Actually, during one of my previous pregnancies, I bought a bass recorder with the idea that the low tones would soothe me during labor. As it turned out, though, I did not take it out of its case at the hospital. For me, all plans go out the window when in serious physical pain, and music didn't enter into it (unless you count all my long-tone humming).

HI JESSIE!

I was away for too long myself...but have taken my whistle mania back--an am back at driving the animals and my hubby crazy! Congrats on your expanding family! I'm glad you still play the whistle...still have that huge collection? Are you still playing the auto harp?

My hubby broke his spine a few years ago, and that threw us for a loop, but we are doing better--he has a good wheelchair and now we have a van...most recently we visited Milw and went to Irish Fest......Hope you can make it the year they have the Driscoll reunion!!! (remember your hubby and I are distant cousins!)

((((((take care))))))) and visit us often!

Nancy

Hi, Nancy! Nice to see you! Yes, I remember putting you in touch with my father-in-law.

Sorry to hear about what happened to your husband, and I am glad you both have found a way to live with it.

I don't have the huge whistle collection anymore, just some favorites. I sold off most of my flute and whistle collection to buy a house and a very special Boehm flute that I commissioned from John Lunn (see http://www.lunnflutes.com/ - my flute is the yellow one). It is certainly not to everyone's taste, but I find it incredibly beautiful and inspiring.

I hadn't touched the autoharp in over a year, but I actually took it out a few days ago and played a few songs. I couldn't remember the chords in Desperado, which frustrated me! I loved doing that one. I'll find the chords somewhere.

Thanks for saying hi.

:)

Jessie....
Wow.
How nice, to "see" from you.
A voice from the Golden Age of C&F.
Many of us, around here, learned a lot from you.
I'm older than thou, but when I was a greenhorn whistler, I looked up to your words of experience and wisdom.
Good to know that your life goes well.

James

Thanks, Jessie. Lesley is improving and sends her love. She was so pleased that your life has gone the way you hoped for when you moved.
Our best,
Ro

Roland and Lesley, I just read a bit more of your thread in the Pub, and I just feel so intensely for both of you. Again, I am incredibly touched that you are thinking of me while important recovery is going on.

As for me, our life changes took a bit of adjustment, but it came together well. I am so accustomed to having Dan around all the time now that I (and the kids) don't know what to do with myself (ourselves) while he's been gone the last few days, set up selling jewelry at a fair. I recognize that this is a really good and tiny problem to have.
