Joanie Madden CD´s

Post by falkbeer »

I´m going to buy some of Joanie Maddens CD´s, but I don´t know which one to buy. Any suggestions? I´d like a couple of her CD´s that show different sides of her artistery.

Any suggestion is welcome!

Song of the Irish Whistle 1 plays better than Song of the Irish Whistle 2 over a small speaker on an MP3 player that is sitting in a bag on the top tube of a road bicycle that is trying to do 15mph into a headwind. Guess it either has louder songs, or was recorded at a higher volume. Doubt that helps, but its the truth...really.

Joanie only has 3 whistle CDs: A Whistle on the Wind, Song of the Irish Whistle and Songs of the Irish Whistle 2. She has talked about a fourth, but until then you will find great whistle tracks on all the Cherish the Ladies CDs.

My personal favorite is Song of the Irish Whistle and I am not alone. That's been called the best selling whistle album of all time. I have no reason to doubt it.

But you get the Cat's Meow on Songs of the Irish Whistle 2. And her first CD, Whistle on the Wind shouldn't be ignored. You really need all three sooner or later just to round out your collection. :)

As for Cherish the Ladies disks, I am partial to Threads of Time but I am still working my way through their older CDs.

Have you never heard of Mery Bergin? If you want true whistle virtuosity - she's your girl bar NONE. Period. End of discussion. Joannie is great, but Mary is cut from an older cloth...more traditional and less new age. Both artists have their place, and are two of the nicest people you'll ever have the pleasure to meet (assuming you have that pleasure!)
