Whistle maker list and yet more low D questions...

Found this very impressive, bordering on comprehensive list of whistle makers:
http://www.google.com/Top/Arts/Music/In ... le/Makers/

Several makers I personally hadn't even heard of before. Any one played a Merlin low D? Looks very cool, (kinda like an imitation abell)

Also, does anyone know of anyone who has made or attempted to make a wooden low D?

I know that Bleazy makes a wood low D as does Sweetheart. Both are reported to be of high quality. I also believe that O'riordan made them as well....but they are terribly expensive and difficult to find.

Ronaldo Reyburn makes a wooden head low D which goes with a brass body. That way one gets the tone of wood, the warmth of brass and you don't have to worry about cracks in the body.

They're very rich sounding instruments.

I didn't think of Reyburn. I don't have one of his low Ds but I do have a Session D/C set that is awesome! An outstanding whistle for the price.

I am flattered to turn up in that search, though I don't make whistles, just cases for them.
