Received this Hermit Hill Folk Instruments 'Delrin Tunable High-D’ a few days ago. Alex DeWilde does such excellent work that it needs to be seen. There is a sound bite at his website.

That small collection is almost five times the size of mine (I need to do an update)! There are some nice ones in there, too; I'm contemplating the purchase of a Dixon high D in the not-too-distant future.

Well, maybe I was being a bit sarcastic :D Gotta catch 'em all!
I like my Dixon high D but don't play it that much because de cnat oxx ooo is too high, sadly. It's just too much work to think about compensating or halfholing or anything that could make it more in tune. But at that price it is still my favorite.

Whistles that collapse or break down to be more conveniently carried have interested me.

Mack Hoover ( hooverwhistles.com ) used to make telescoping whistles. This is his D.

David O’Brien in Canada ( obrienwhistles.com ) makes his ‘Stowaway’ in D, C, and Bb. This is the Bb.

Here the O’Brien is size compared to a Generation Bb that I sectioned into three pieces ( https://tinyurl.com/j82p55h7 ).

Very nice - but these aren't 'telescoping' whistles, these are 'separable', (there is a difference). :D

The concept of bodies that break up in parts has been around for a bit. I always thought it was a bit of a novelty thing.

Here's one from the early-ish eighties. Possibly a Clare. The head was no good and I discarded it immediately. Nothing left to identify the make. There was an early 80s Generation head on it for a long time but that has found a more attractive and useful body since. This one went 'wobbly' over time and went out of use.
