Geez. I suppose this is supposed to be humorous as opposed to cruel? Whatever.

Perhaps it is the humor/humour divide rearing its ugly head again...

Yeah, I'm sure that's it. The first time I was in Ireland, there was someone who seemed to want me around, yet he kept insulting me constantly for days. Finally, I asked him if he liked me or what, and he said "Yeah, you're a cool chick!" I think the British/Irish humo(u)r doesn't resonate with me.

Well, that photo resonates with me.

Priceless! Thanks for sharing it.

It's my opinion - highly regarded (and sometimes not) by me. Peace y'all.

Its not just humour/humor thats different in UK compared to the US, compliments vary as well. When my wife and I were visiting friends in the US we got compliments all the time, we just weren't used to it and thought that Americans were being ungenuine (we cant be that good!). But friends of ours said they had the same thing when they were in the US and we realised it was just a cultural difference. Brits (at their worst) can tend towards cynicism and sarcasm, Americans (at their worst) to being a bit unreal or naive.
As some wise man said (Mark Twain?) Britain and America, two nations separated by a common language.
Still I should have learnt by now that jokes involving peoples children usualy end in tears
