I just read L.E. McCullough's moving tribute to his dead Generation D. In the preamble, he describes his efforts to revive her, including nail polish and duct tape. If the surfaces inside the cracks have not been too badly fouled, there may yet be a chance to make her work again.

I accidentaly crushed a favorite bamboo whistle, and repaired it more than adequately with methyl methacrylate glue, more commonly known as "Crazy Glue". This stuff is very thin, and tends to wick into the cracks due to capillary action.

It might work. And if it doesn't, all you are out is a couple of bucks for a tube of glue. Lots cheaper than buying every Generation D in the hope of finding one that sounds as good.
