Thank you Jerry,there is a plethora of musical ability on both sides of what is termed "the divide"....this is just a small piece of the Protestant heritage that we hold so dear to us,as I'm sure that many of you guys feel a patriotic sense of duty to your country,we also enjoy celebrating our culture in a peacful and respectful manner.

The Lambeg and fife are a big part of our culture,but increasingly fife and drum corps are coming to the fore bringing a more melodic feeling to the scene.

Fife bands over here now are and have been for a number of years playing with exceptional ability,playing Bb Miller Wicks,also Fflutes,Eb piccolos,whistles and even pipes

Here's an excerpt from this site;

Prior to this brief tour of North Belfast the Alliance was unanimous in its belief of three basic principles.

1. Ulster is British and shall never be part of a United Ireland.

2. The so-called Peace Process is totally anti-British and should be vigorously opposed.

3. Loyalists should not surrender their weapons until their communities are safe from republican attacks.

Meanwhile, the Orange Order's reverence for loyalist killers was once
again exposed when a new banner dedicated to UDA killer John "Grugg"
Greg was paraded during the Twelfth march through Glengormley, North
Belfast.

The banner was carried along with Gregg's sectarian band the Cloughfern
Young Conquerers which took part in the Orange parade in Glengormley.

Other UDA and UVF flags were also unfurled during the massive loyalist
show of strength.

Leader of the South Antrim UDA John Greg along with UDA member Rab
Carson were shot dead earlier this year in Belfast docks by Johnny
Adairs notorious 'C' Company during the loyalist feud.

Over the last two weeks the Orange Order has come in for criticism
after it was disclosed that Shankill Butcher Eddie McIlwaine was
pictured carrying a banner honouring UVF killer Brian Robinson at an
Orange Parade on the Springfield Road in West Belfast.

I aghree with what you are saying...apart from the fact that the band playing is NOT the Cloughfern Young Conquerers,the band playing are a memorial band of the 36th Ulster division,who go to the Somme battlefields each year to comemerate the sacrifices that were made by both sides in the great war,including the 16th Irish division.

Also the bit about the cenetaph in Londonderry...I am a member of the Apprentice boys and walk in Londonderry each year,and each time we are subjected to verbal and physical abuse as we pass the cenetaph,this includes being spat on and having bricks thrown at us.
I am glad that we have the disciplin to rise above this severe provacation and to not play into the hands of what I will agree is a minority of the nationalist population in Londonderry.
