Whistle teachers in Bucks County PA?

Post by craigjoseph »

Hi everyone,

Can anyone recommend a whistle teacher (or class) in Bucks County, PA? I’m in the Doylestown area, but I don’t mind driving up to half an hour if I have to. I’ve had some training (classes with Larry Nugent and lessons with Kathleen Keane, both when I lived in Chicago), but I haven’t really done anything in the past 10 years or so.

Any help would be most appreciated!

Tell us something.: I'm a historian and the author of "The Beat Cop:Chicago's Chief O'Neill and the Creation of Irish Music," published by the University of Chicago in 2022. I live in Arlington VA and play the flute sincerely but not well

I grew up in Lansdale: My grandparents lived on Belmont Avenue in Doylestown. But it's been a long while since I lived in PA.

Have you tried asking at the Bucks County Folk Music shop?

I live in Ambler. I can teach you what I know. Definitely, get going to sessions. There are a lot of whistles players in the area. Being around it is a good way to get there.
