Isn't it? But I imagine it's difficult to design something that does not affect the tone / timbre and still does a good job of blocking wind. Plus they need to justify that $40 plus price tag somehow. :)

Honestly, I would think easiest would just be to set up some sort of wind-blocker... a piece of clear acrylic on a stand/tripod? Manhasset makes such a thing, but it's not cheap: https://shop.manhasset-specialty.com/p/ ... eld?pp=24
(Or, a face shield? Do they go low enough?)

They do, but ones of any length are visually compressed without the tags:

Whereas you see the whole thing with them:
