Looking for a Dixon DX 204 C and D Whistle

Post by kbclanton »

Hello all!

Due to some very unfortunate circumstances I managed to lose my treasured heavy brass Dixon DX204 C and D whistles. Does anybody have any idea where I can go or who I can talk to replace them? I've looked at various vendors online and they're all out of stock. I must tell you that I was quite heartbroken when I realized they were gone! :( Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks to all and keep whistling!

Keith

This comment was entirely incorrect and has been edited so as not to mislead anyone finding it in the future. Those responsible have been sacked.

No, the DX204 (and DX203 before it) was solid brass, not aluminium.
And we in dreams behold the Hebrides.

Apologies, I was going off memory and thought the 204 was the alloy one!

I will say that the last time that I was in the Cork Pro Musica they had a couple of those heavy brass whistles. It was a while ago, early this year, but they might have one or two left. Their website isn’t very great, so it wouldn’t come up in a search; a call might land you what you’re looking for. I don’t know where you’re based, but I’m sure they’d love the business if they had one!

Tell us something.: I can only hope that my proficiency with the whistle is steadily improving. A few of my whistles get a workout on an almost daily basis. And I'm almost certainly afflicted with WhOAD.

Whether this is a heavy brass whistle, I’ve no idea, and you may want to call ahead to confirm that it is indeed in stock. If you're in the States, Hobgoblin might be a good source.

According to their website, Harp and Dragon has one “solid brass” Dixon whistle in C left.
