Oak Whistles Question

Post by VioPhilist »

I bought an Oak D whistle back in 2012 (Oval, yellowish sticker). Eventually I tweaked this whistle by making tuneable (wasn't tuneable to start with), and adding puddy to that dead space in the back of mouthpiece. I really love this whistle. I even prefer it to my Freeman Bluebird, even though that one is a tad easier to play, I love the chiffier, brighter tone of the Oak. The thicker tubing is nice as well, though the nickel is slippery. Now, I've heard the new Oaks are tuneable? And have a different sticker? Do they still sound the same? Also, how is the Oak C?

Keep on fluting.

I have a newer Oak D and it is really good. Mine was tunable out of the box. Nice clear sound, a bit less "breathy" than a Generation or Feadóg. I quite like it.
