Might help to know what make of whistle you're interested in and what price range. A good low D can range anywhere from $10 to a $1000.

Have you looked at the whistles for sale in the UIE? There are currently three low Ds for sale: A Reyburn, Carbony, and Musique Morneaux.

Any price considered - Max price would be £2000, depending on the whistle.

As for make and Key, and thing considered as i'm not looking for specific whistles. I always keep an eye on the UIE.

Feel free to PM me with anything you might be willing to sell.

:boggle:

I haven't seen a low D sell for more than about $1000 to $1200 (Copeland). What whistles sell for significantly more than that?

Sold a Stirling silver 3 part Copeland for around £2000, beautiful piece, amazing tone. Sold only to fund more instruments (Uilleann pipes)!

I still have this one listed:
Low D Nick Metcalf aluminum tuneable - $160 - Silver Star model with offset holes. Bought new last year from Nick and still in "like new" condition. I hesitate to put this one on here as the tone is so nice and velvety. But a man's gotta know his limitations, and like the last one, I just don't see getting truly comfortable with this one due to my own ergonomic limitations (carpal tunnel, RSI, etc.)

Shipping from U.S.
I have no idea what shipping to U.K. would be but I can find out if you're interested.

P.s. also this one:
Alto G Chieftain Thunderbird aluminum nontuneable - $90 - plays well in tune if you give it the air it wants. This is what I would call a hard blower and I'm more of a medium to low blower.

The Copeland low D (brass) was what I had been thinking of. In other keys, there's a Grinter F on eBay, starting at $950, with a BIN price of $1,250. We don't know if that will sell, or whether bidding could drive it up above the BIN.

There is a Copeland low D (brass) on eBay at the moment (not mine), starting bid $900:

Pretty sure that's formerly active C&F member "whistlegal", not posted since 2010.

For anyone interested in the Grinter low F....I looked at the add thinking it may have been one of mine I sold due to rosewood allergies....the add says the wood is mopane, which is non allergenic. Pretty certain it is cocobolo/rosewood....so if one is prone to wood allergies, this one would not be one to purchase.
