That is an issue because my experience with the kids whistling is they want to MARCH. We don't do that with the youngest/beginners.
Yeah, when I was a kid I had several of those bamboo whistle-type things. I never had a problem, but we had an incident with my nephew, who fell with the thing in his mouth. It cut his hard palate, which was lucky.
So I give really little ones ocarinas. They gum them, I dunno if any have ever played them or even gotten a sound.
