My Sindts all have JS engraved on the back of the head where the Delrin meets the metal. That doesn't mean yours would if it were an experiment or a prototype or even an early whistle. I emailed John Sindt a couple of years ago when my head froze and he quickly emailed me instructions on how to free it so he responds to emails. I'd pop him an email. He could tell you if this was one of his.
