Please don't mock me for not knowing (I'm a relatively new convert to ITM, and don't tell me to 'learn by ear' either)

I already know tunes one and four but I can't find the music on The Session for tunes two and three:

Are Slow Air and Prayer From The North known by different titles perhaps?

Thanks

Anyone?

I thought Gumby would be straight on to this.

I can't believe that out of the 152 people that have viewed this thread not one can help me.

Cheers lads

Well, I had a listen, and didn't recognize either. I suspect the reason you're not getting much of a response is that the tunes in question may not be traditional at all; they may be modern compositions that no one here knows.

They sound sort of like Hymn-tunes but no, they're not familiar to me.

They could be Hymn tunes, film soundtrack pieces, or anything.

I suppose you could ask him directly.

A couple of the airs I play on the uilleann pipes and whistle aren't Irish, but Appalachian. Perhaps he's playing Russian songs.

The second tune sounds somewhat like "I'm a man you don't meet every day", sometimes called "Jock Stewart"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I%27m_a_M ... _Every_Day made famous by the Dubliners and The Tannahill Weavers.

On a side note, doesn't that C# on the Howard seem unreasonably flat?

Thanks chaps, that explains why The Session doesn't have the dots then.

@Richard

Surprisingly 'asking him directly' was the first thing I did, no response hence this thread.

Coincidentally a couple of days after I started this thread, someone posted this:

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=107540

So that's tune three sorted just 'Slow Air' to track down.

Hi Richard.

The first is 'Down by the Sally Gardens' the second sounds like a Phill Cunningham composition but not sure what, could be Ireene Tullock Queen of Lerwick ?

Eh.... the "Queen Of Lerwick" was Violet Tulloch. I have no idea whether or not that is the tune being sought, but it may be worth checking.

Yes Kenny you are correct. Senior moment here. The last two tunes elude me.
