Here's a soundclip:

Over the last several years, I've received MANY requests that I make a tabor pipe using the same techniques that go into my Freeman tweaked penny whistles. After many prototypes, I have finally succeeded in making one that is up to my standard of quality. I introduced it at the New England Folk Festival last month, and it was well received, so I offer it now to the public. People commented that it's not excessively shrill (as many tabor pipes are), has a sweet tone, and is easier than most to play.

Will you be making any lower keys? C would be especially useful. In the early music world many bowed strings are tuned to open D, and diatonic harps are tuned to C, so C major and D minor are frequently used.
Cheers, Derek
P.S. For the low range I love the Mellow Dog.

I'll keep that in mind and do some experiments.

- Tell us something.: I've been trying to learn the recorder for about 5 years now and want to add a new instrument (tin whistle) to my repertoire. I hope with only 6 holes life will be a bit easier... (John Sheahan's Marino Casino in the Gaiety theatre has something to do with it - whereas my head knows that 40 years of practice is the reason why it sounds so good, I'm still hoping...)

I tried to hear the sound clip and got: "You don't have permission to access /join/index.bml on this server."

It worked just now when I tried - maybe the access has been fixed.
