Tell us something.: Hey! I'm interested in tin whistles and traditional irish and celtic music. It's an exciting opportunity to explore the scotch-irish roots of my family as well as play some old Civil War era tunes.

In his videos they sound really good and mellow. I'm wondering what your thoughts are. Do they require any special maintenance? Good value?

Tell us something.: I'm interested in 19th and early 20th century wooden flutes. And Renaissance flutes. And also techniques for whistles.

I had a Cocobolo whistle in D from Erik and it was a very mellow, rich-toned instrument. The fipple is a Susato so it is very good quality.
Maintenance is only a little almond oil on the wood every 6 months or so. I think the value is there price-wise.

The only reason I sold it it was because of the large toneholes. Too large for me anyway. I don't have thin fingers either (but I do prefer the smaller toneholes of Baroque/French style flutes however) but they were at least 30-35% larger than my Clark, Generation and Feadog whistles. Big!
