I'm not seeing anything but notices telling me to update my account. Not that I have one.

You can see it because it's yours.

That'll be $400, Pat. I'll take care of it for you.

So ... what was I supposed to have been seeing?

Will you take a third party out of state cheque?

Just a couple shots of our race car being bad-ass

Got somewhere else you can upload images without that restriction?

If not, you should still be able to get the image URLs and post them as hyperlinks in URL tags instead of visible, hotlinked images in IMG tags.

[Edit: nope, that's not working either... Photobucket = bad!]

While playing my humble Gen Bb, which I adore, I have come to the stark realization that I am not a master of anything, nor will I become one.

Hmm. We seem to be disagreeing about the nature of "mastery". When I use the term, I don't mean "perfection" - a standard somewhere beyond virtuousity. That's impossible. What is possible is obtaining a degree of skill such that a panel of peers would conclude that X or Y player had mastered the instrument. That's totally attainable. Such players will go on getting better all their lives, but that doesn't mean that at some point, their peers had not recognized them as being in command of the fundamental skills of whistle playing. There's no such body ruling on whistleship, but that doesn't alter the nature of mastery. Mastery doesn't mean "achieving perfection", it means "attaining an advanced standard".

Nor do I.

And that's exactly what I meant in the main. I see us as being entirely in agreement, here.

But I still maintain - and you seem to agree in principle - that no matter how good I get, it is for others to say I have any mastery. Personally, I would be too dissatisfied to ever call it that. At most, I might concede that I'm competent, but I'd still rather someone else say that, too. Although I understand that by "mastery" you mean "competency", and I tried to use it along those same lines, it's evident that I didn't entirely succeed because I do consider "mastery" to imply a higher standard, and this probably showed through.

Interestingly, there were masters in art and music who were ignored or denigrated by their peers and contemporaries who are now acclaimed as masters. But, here again, this is splitting hairs, similar to an ongoing medieval debate on how many angels could rest upon a pinhead.
For practical purposes, in my opinion, mastery of anything rests upon the acclaim of contemporaries and existing masters, follwed by the test of time.

So I sat down for the first time with a tin flute for about an hour and I can play Mary Had a Little Lamb, Twinkle Twinkly Little Star, and London Bridges.

I'm basically ready to do sessions with ITM groups I assume :D

Success...and cool car.

Returning to topic...I recall your first whistle was gifted to you with the stipulation that you learn to play "The Wild Rover." Did you accomplish that mission?
