Sweetheart 6085

Post by BigDavy »

I had an attack of WHOAD earlier this week when an old style Sweetheart whistle was listed on eBay UK. It arrived yesterday and inspecting the mouthpiece, it looked as if it had hardly been touched, never mind used.

What would be a reasonable second hand price for one, to satisfy my curiosity about whether I got a good deal or not.

Tell us something.: Hi, I have been playing whistle for 3 years. I made my first whistle 2 years ago and my first tin whistle last year in a tinsmithing class.

The last one that I saw on eBay had a buy-it-now option at $85, though that is very low. It sold very quickly.

You did get a good deal! Perhaps a more realistic value could be surmised by looking at the high end of price points http://www.irishflutestore.com/sweethea ... istle-in-d. Then you could look at the difference between that and the price you paid. Also factor in that they are different models, different species of rosewood, etc.

Hi nicx66

It is this style.

But the wood is a much darker brown colour. The seller thought it was walnut.

If you paid $X for it, and you like it $X dollars worth, then you got a good deal. No sense fretting over whether you could have gotten it cheaper. They're pretty nice whistles, so enjoy it.
