- Tell us something.: Hi, I play 5-string banjo, mountain dulcimer, bones, and am now a beginner pennywhistler. I have some Dixon, Freeman, and Susato whistles. This is obviously the most extensive forum for information in whistle learning- thanks!
I also run a banjo/mando/fiddle shirt site at https://harmonias.com/
and a mountain dulcimer social site at: fotmd.com - Location: Germantown, NY

Cute kids!
But... um, doesn't using a photo as a mannequin challenge kinda defeat the whole idea?

First I've heard of this. Is it a "thing"?

Well, kind of... my still pic doesn't quite get it. Mannequin Challenge/Mania, dabbin, strike a pose, etc., all get into the act.pancelticpiper wrote:First I've heard of this. Is it a "thing"?

Seems to be a blurring of meaning across social media sources. Here is Atlanta's take on it.

And the BBC

Of course the NFL has powerful media influence. This does not include taking a knee during the National Anthem. That's another story.

And Madonna had done it years ago.

Kids are adapting for their own interpretations. Listen to the kids... it's a thing... and they're driving.
p.s. the cannabis take on it is for medicinal purposes only.

Thanks for the links!
Did some YouTube looking, I see that "mannequin challenge" is getting a bunch of people to freeze, and have a movie camera move through, giving the illusion of frozen time or something.
"Dabbing" evidently is completely different, being simply a certain pose, not requiring a movie camera.
Wow how these things come and go on YouTube.
The one that's been fascinating for me has been around for years, the "accent challenge".

I see more and more of the GoPro cameras stimulating the mannequins while merging with the dab. I don't video. The kids just want to have fun.pancelticpiper wrote:Did some YouTube looking, I see that "mannequin challenge" is getting a bunch of people to freeze, and have a movie camera move through, giving the illusion of frozen time or something.
When the mannequin dabblers graduate they can work on accents. So much to look forward to.pancelticpiper wrote:The one that's been fascinating for me has been around for years, the "accent challenge".
