John Sindt whistles

Post by mcvarishdc »

Early this week I had the great pleasure of briefly talking and meeting with John Sindt (as well as hearing him play two hornpipes he had recently learned.) I know there has been a lot of talk over the years about whether John is still making whistles. When I mentioned that to him, he indicated that he planned to continue making whistles as long as he is physically able to. I can only hope to be as spry and active as he is when I am 77.

And he makes great whistles. I love my new D.

That is great news that John Sindt is still going strong at 77 and continuing to make whistles. Playing the Sindt whistle for Trad music must be the longevity factor. :D

If I didn't already have a Sindt whistle I'd wait out eternity to get one.

I'll be playing my Sindt whistle Saturday here:

Hi Tommy,

Well ya just never know as once the party gets started who knows how long the run. I'll play a little louder for those folks at a distance as music sometimes travels. :)

Anyone is welcome. Cash is king.

Tell us something.: My name is Maaxxx. I have been playing whistles for around 12 years, both in a band and at sessions. I also play a few other instruments and have been involved in traditional Celtic music since the 1960s. I see this forum as a welcome opportunity to exchange ideas and encourage the development of others in this field. I have visited this site many times over the years and have decided, at last, that I should register in support of what I consider to be a valuable resource.

Definitely up there with the best. I have 4 of John's whistles and they are all superb. And a lovely person to deal with too!
