A small point of minor interest: since I posted the link, in my post above, to The ink Spots singing Java Jive, the Google ad banner at the top of my screen has several times tried to sell me coffee. I don't recall it ever trying to sell me coffee before. It's usually cars, belts and life insurance.

No. Honestly, my search consisted of going to Youtube and typing into its search box, not Google's, the phrase (and I'm quoting exactly) "Java Jive Ink Spots".

I've simply brought up things on threads here and the banner ad will reflect it. One time I used the word "butch" and suddenly the banner ads were about hardware and sporting goods, and that was definitely a first. No kidding. There've also been other instances that couldn't possibly have been coincidental. You don't necessarily have to do a search; those trackers read us right here.

Youtube is owned by Google, so I can't imagine why the search bar through Youtube *wouldn't* be indexed/archived by Google.

If the word 'Java', and maybe mention of caffeine in the notes on the video, is enough to launch a set of coffee ads then its serves them right for getting it wrong.

Earlier this afternoon users browsing this forum were 'Google and 5 guests' and all the mention of coffee pots isn't enough to give me a coffee add in the banner. Though it knows I have been researching for higher value products lately, and, it seems, that I have been browsing a dual-language web site - the first time I have had adds for translation services.

I would be impressed if they incorporate the way the board works into the algorithm and pick up on who types what though?

Edit to add - I wonder if the dating site adds are something to do with how Google classifies people who who frequent phpBB boards...
