FS : Harper Classic D SOLD

I have for sale an aluminium alloy Harper Classic D whistle. Made by gunsmith Steve Harper this whistle displays some very fine workmanship. Brushed and highly polished aluminium parts combine to make a highly decorative whistle, the brass Harper name shield set between two handsomely knurled borders, the bottom end of the whistle subtly flared. These retail at £89 sterling (=around $135 or €105). This is a great opportunity to get one for a slightly more than half that (+postage).

When I received the whistle it was prone to clogging, treatment of the windway has solved that problem. The whistle doesn't suit my way of playing though, it's one for those who like to 'lean into' their whistles and I am not one of them.

I don't think I want another whistle but if anyone has a redundant Sindt C we can talk trades.

[edited to remove soundfile, which had gone past it's sell by date]

Hello,

I have two questions:

1) How much are you selling this for?
2) How did you stop the clogging? I have an embellished Harper and often have the same problem. To make matters worse, I chipped the mouthpiece and now it clogs even more! I was wondering what you did to make the problem go away?

My friend may be interested in purchasing this as she has been looking for one for a while.

Hey there! Is the Harper whistle still available and if so, what were you asking?

Thanks

Replied in PM there too. I paid around €55 and that, plus postage will take the whistle.

Just over half the new price for an as new instrument, clean as the proverbial.

As far as I know Steve has stopped making whistles so this would be a good opportunity to get your mitts on one.
Finally feel like I'm getting somewhere. It's only taken 6 years.

I play Harpers and have been following Steve's work for years, but as Infernaltootler said, it appears Steve is no longer making whistles. I know he's had some family issues, so maybe he's attending to family full time.

At any rate, Harpers are fine instruments and if you can get your hands on one, jump on it.

Not sure on the family problems quote - although Steve and his wife are foster carers of several children so its usually a mad house @ the Harpers, but Steve (or Dad) has indeed stopped making the whistles for now and just concentrating on playing amongst other projects. If anything changes I'll let you know on C+F :)

Oh and I guess that makes the whistle for sale here a collectors item now!

Regards
