No, no, no, no, no, no, no - Lord of the Dance is NOT Irish music and dance at its best.

I also suggest you try Martin Doyle. I have one of his simple D flutes and it's superb. I also own two Olwells, a Grinter, and a Copley, and I'm just as happy playing the Doyle as any of the others. http://www.martindoyleflutes.com/

Re: Looking for teacher in Melbourne Australia

Hi Brigitte, It has been a long, long time. I live in Melbourne, Australia, now - as of December last year. Melbourne is full of amazing Irish traditional music sessions and there are quite a few excellent flute and whistle players. In addition to the fantastic music it is also a very friendly and w...

By the way, I think the videos on the Killarney Whistles site give an accurate representation of what to expect sound-wise - very crisp, sweet, and consistent across both octaves. One of the things I love most is the beautiful birdlike sweetness of the the top A and B - just lovely.

Re: WTB: Interesting Hi D whistle <$100 for teen beginner (US)

Yes - Bb is an absolutely lovely key, but not for an Irish trad session and not for learning tunes from recordings. Regarding the Killarney Eb vs D - both are outstanding. I suppose I just really like the sweetness that results from the sweetly higher pitch. I feel the same way about the Eb Sindt vs...
