Re: WhistleMakers Directory (WMD)
Any chance my listing can be updated as I no longer use the ethnicwind.com web page. Unfortunately I I didn’t renew it when I took a couple years off, and they wanted too much money to renew the name. New web page is: http://www.theirishwhistle.com Back to making whistle and music full time And I no...

Re: Nick Metcalf's Skellig Low D
So the tapering of the outside of the whistle doesn’t affect the hole size or placement, nor is it relative to the height of the windway (not sure I understood what you were asking there) the windway height affects the tone and backpressure, and volume in general, but not the relative volume between...

Re: Nick Metcalf's Skellig Low D
Hi, I’m happy to answer any questions about the Skellig Low Whistle. First of all I can adjust the windway height when I make the whistle so however your preference is I can do it. Also the tapering on the outside of the body makes the volume even across notes in the same octave. It doesn’t change t...

Re: Ethnicwinds whistles and Nick Metcalf
I'm not super proficient with the message board thing. So I can't see a real name which I can look up and find your order. I didn't think I still had any orders that far behind, so if you would be so kind as to email me to my new email address (I had service through a different company before and I ...

Re: Ethnicwinds whistles and Nick Metcalf
Well, I know I'm not the most popular guy these days in the whistle world. Let me be up front and say that I have made a lot of mistakes with customers, especially with regards to how long it will be before I finish their orders. I'm really bad at estimating that amount of time. And, as pointed out ...

Re: Bass A Whistle project
I used to make a bass A in copper back in the day, but although I still make Bass A Whistles I found that, for the style I make, the copper doesn't have sufficient wall thickness for the windway. I made a bass G recently out of CPVC that turned out great. That material resonates much better than cop...

Re: outdated info on C&F
I wasn't saying I'd attempt it solo, I'd heavily rely on input from others, I was simply offering my web designing skills and time, and yes as a maker it would be nice to be included in that list, but I wouldn't do anything on the site to promote my own instruments above others. we makers are pretty...

Re: outdated info on C&F
I have offered to do the updates for you in threads and I believe I sent you a PM... I believe that the length of time that the C&F web sitte has been up has gained it a reputation and high rankings in search engines and it is still used as the definitive source of information on whistles. There...

Re: CP ethnicwind.com now makes an Irish Flute!
the flute is pretty thick walled. it is made from CPVC, (not pvc) so it's not the same thin walled white PVC stuff that some people make their flutes out of. I have a Dixon inexpensive Irish flute, and it is much thinner walled than the one I make. the intonation on my flute is also adjustable to yo...

as promised... here's a song with this flute... a tiny bit of reverb at the beginning, but no effects at all on the rest of the song.

Re: CP ethnicwind.com now makes an Irish Flute!
well since I hand make each one, I can make them without the indentations for the thumbs, or move the location of the indentations as needed quite easily. The angled end is purely aesthetics, so I can make it with a flat end just as easily, and same goes for the turnings on the mouthpiece... My goal...
