Windward flutes offer it, I believe.

Re: Olivewood
Check out the Windward Flutes website - some info and pics there of their African Olivewood flutes. Forbes and Yola (Christie) may even tell you more if you contact them. They are awfully nice folks to deal with.

Re: New England/Northeast Flute Repairers?
If you're really stuck, Windward Flutes up in Nova Scotia (Can) do excellent repairs. You might be able to work some cross-border shipping, although I have no experience in that for repairs. Forbes Christie does excellent work, and is most agreeable to work with. Lovely folks.

Re: Mopane v/s Blackwood humidity/temperature response
I believe the difference is probably negligible. I have had both blackwood and mopane flutes...for years. The only one that had rings come loose was a blackwood flute. In that case it became tight again after some playing and attention to humidification. I live in S Ontario Canada where winters can ...

Re: Your Favourite Recorded Flute Tone
I'll second Chet's (Cac) post re June McCormack's tone....lovely. We've benefited from being in her classes, so slightly off topic (not recorded). I would like to add Louise MulCahy's tone to the mix. She seems to be rarely recorded solo on flute, but I have sat in on a workshop with her. Lovely 'th...

Re: Disassembling and assembling the flute...
I've been watching this thread for quite a while now. When I started on this journey 12+ years ago I was, like some of the posters, scared about the reported problems with wood. I went through the aluminum flute and then the Delrin flute and finally took the chance and bought my first wood flute. 5 ...

Re: Practicing in a Resonant Space
I was a secondary school teacher for many years and use to play in the stairwell near my room at lunch and after school. Two storey stairwell, all brick and hard surface...I have to say I loved it, and the kids got used to their eccentric science teacher making music at lunch and after school, on 't...

Re: For the mopane flautists
Hey there..I've played a Mopane keyless D (from Windward flutes) for about 10y, as my daily player. It is a great flute with good tone and weight. It is hard to separate it's qualities as coming from the maker or a characteristic of the wood, though. It has been stable in my somewhat variable climat...

Re: In search of reedy tone
I agree with everything that has been said regarding different blowing techniques, long tones etc. For me, my journey involved several different flutes. I eventually found one that I liked the tone of, including my ability to produce something 'reedy' and a good low D. What's interesting is that at ...

Re: Does your dog howl when you play the flute?
My poodle seems to really like certain tunes - right now he's partial to Jackie Daly's (a slide I learned off of Aoife Granville's album). He comes and sits by my feet and 'sings' along. Other tunes he's not so much interested in, but sometimes he chimes in. I'm convinced he likes it and is attempti...

Re: It's complicated choosing a flute
Windward flutes in Shelburne NS make beautiful (sounding and looking) flutes in Mopane as well as other woods. Here's a recent post by someone who 'got one'. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pE80ue0NRw&feature=share. No international borders to cross. I have two of their flutes (D mopane, E flat...

Re: What you seek from a flute/whistle lesson
I have attended several workshops with noted 'pros' over the years, and taken individual lessons via skype. The worst and least memorable workshops had way too many people and yes, the 'instructor' presented the tune...we played it on masse (some good some not) and moved on. The best, were smallish ...
