Re: Anderson whistle tour

I've been off the forum for some time (busy year). Anyone know what has happened with this tour?

PM "vanishing"

Hi,
hope you can help. I got an email message the other day to say I had a PM (don't get many of these!) but when I went to check it, there was nothing there.

Any ideas?

I tend to use OXXXOX most of the time but I am also making sure I can play OXXOOO as well. I also try a bit of half-holing but that's a bit more of a problem for me. As a beginner, I pondered this for a while, but decided that I would try to familiar with many C nat options as down the track I may n...

I too welcome you to the forum. I think you'll find it very useful - and sometimes entertaining :)

I agree with Riverman that the whistle is a great stress reliever - It's just a little bit of pure enjoyment.

All the best with your Mum

One of the things that I really enjoy about ITM music, and I guess about folk music in general, is that you can play some really great music on basic instruments. It's about the music, not the instrument. Beware: I'm only a beginner in this field, but the attitude where the music and the enjoyment a...

Thanks for all the comments of this issue. The thread is now heading in one of the directions I hoped it would. Being a new player, sometimes means that you are not even sure of the question - not just the answer :boggle: The way I read what Larsen is saying is that there is a 'mechanical' slowness ...

Thanks for these responses. I did do a search first, but came up with so many results for 'cuts' I didn't know where to start. One of the major themes that I am starting to pick up in my journey as an ITM beginner, is there really is no one way of doing anything. As a musician keep as many options o...

Thanks MTGuru. I did a search first but got so many responses on cut and fingers I couldn't find the valuable things in there. I'll check out the links you have suggested.

What finger(s) to cut with?

As a beginner, I'm just about to head into the wonderful world of ornamentation in a more serious way. I just want to get some insite before I head too far down the track. What fingering do I use for cuts. Some seem to suggest that for D, E F# and G you use the third finger of the top hand and for A...
