Congratulations. It's all downhill from now on. I have a Lanikai tenor but a different model. You will love it.

Excellent. Maybe now (if I practice enough) the ladies in the office of the Vietnamese magazine I write for will stop laughing at me.

Re: Slide whistle
Some years ago Suzuki had a slide harmonica. I never tried it but they still list it on their website (or did a few weeks ago).

Re: Slow Fingers
You may have slow fingers but look at poor Eric Clapton. He had slow hands and look what happened to him.
Say, whatever did happen to him?

Re: Amazing Grace
Some years ago Bill Moyers did a special on the song on PBS. I think the DVD is still available in their catalog. As I recall it was quite good with examples from many of the different musical forms mentioned above as well as others.

Re: Time to buy some books
Mel Bay seems to have a whole series of tinwhistle books. I have "You Can Teach Yourself Tinwhistle" and it does NOT have tabs but does have standard notation and fingering schematics at the beginning of appropriate sections where it introduces new notes. (Perhaps this is what you mean by ...

Re: In all honesty...
An English professor encouraged me to read Catcher just before he flunked me. :-? Told me I desperately needed some direction and this was one of the books to read to get it. It was a recently published work then and I still haven't read it. Perhaps I should have but I got direction from another sou...
