Re: Looking for compañeros for a busking trip to South America

Re: Looking for compañeros for a busking trip to South America

Also, uh. I have to say it. It may happen that if you're intrested, you'll try to do a 'background check' on me and go reading my old posts and comments here at C&F. I should note that these all were posted many years ago, and people tend to change with the time. Anything you find there is proba...

Re: Looking for compañeros for a busking trip to South America

Also, I should note that while I'm very, very mediocre musician, I still, well, can play music, and expect that any companions that join me can do the same. As I said, street music is very honest - if your playing sucks, no one would listen. Here are some of my recent recordings, if you want to know...

Re: Looking for compañeros for a busking trip to South America

Re: Looking for compañeros for a busking trip to South America

What are these places: these are nice civilized countries of western culture (akin to Southern Europe, like Spain or Italy). They may be not as rich as Western Europe or US or Canada, but that's not a big deal. They are rather safe - they're neither Colombia, where rebels still fight the government,...

Looking for compañeros for a busking trip to South America

In short: I'm a B/C button accordion player from Moscow, Russia, and now looking for companions (fellow Irish musicans) for a busking trip to South America next winter. No, it's not as crazy as it sounds. Long version: I don't know about you guys, but where I reside, winters are long, cold and kinda...

Re: Finally found a Harper high D...and well worth the effort

A few years ago, when I still was an active member of the C&F boards, I started once a thread called "whistles you don't like" (or smth like that). It was frozen and then deleted by MTGuru as a very impolite one, although no one had posted anything impolite there by that time. As for m...

Re: Finally found a Harper high D...and well worth the effort

FYI: Steve Harper is back in business, after a few years of retirement. He even has a website now: http://harperclassic.com/ I do not play tinwhistle anymore (switched to b/c accordion), but when I did, the Harper Classic was my one and only D whistle since the day I bought it. That was the end and ...

Re: My very own thread

Uh, plenty of time have passed. In May'09, soon after my last post here, I gave up playing the tinwhistle, still not sure why. Just stopped practicing and put my Harper Classic to the shelf (and it's still there). I actually thought that had been the end of the story, but I was wrong. In August'09 -...

No, don't!!!
Midis from TSO are the worst abc midis I've ever heard.

Re: thesession abc??

ABC is the "formal" way of writing dots using the alphabet. http://www.concertina.net/tunes_convert.html will give you some PDF and some MIDI, and that works. You may also consider using some desktop software. AbcNavigator is fast, lightweight, and is really good in making these ABC midis ...

Re: War's end

Apparently the Second World War only "officially" ended in 1990! Thinking that way, it's still not ended. There's still no peace treaty between Russia and Japan, only a cease fire. In 1946 Japan capitulated, but to US, not to USSR, though USSR also took part in that '46 campaign, the land...

Re: In praise of the Clarke Meg

My nine year old is capable of mass destruction but his Meg has survived longer than any of his Star Wars toys.
Meg whistle is a Star Wars toy?
I always suspected that. Cool.
